RENO, Nev. — The Washoe County Sheriff says he worries taggers could make a comeback after budget cuts forced his office to eliminate two graffiti investigation positions.

The Sheriff’s Support Specialist who worked full-time documenting graffiti incidents is being reassigned, and a deputy dedicated to investigating the reports and enforcing graffiti laws is being placed in the patrol division.
Haley says graffiti removal projects using inmate and community service work crews will continue, even if investigations are gone.
Haley says graffiti decreased during the time the investigation program was funded.
